Korean artist Kayoung Choi arrived for her summer residency, just in time to face typhoon season in Kaohsiung. Having long been fascinated by canned foods in her artistic practice, her local fieldwork revealed a uniquely Taiwanese phenomenon: in a land frequently visited by typhoons, households have quietly developed their own versions of "Typhoon Noodles," relying on whatever canned goods are stocked in the kitchen.

With a real typhoon approaching, Kayoung is about to experience her very first major storm. Although canned goods are her primary creative medium, she rarely cooks with them. She was looking for someone willing to use the canned ingredients she had on hand in her studio to teach her how to make an authentic bowl of "Typhoon Noodles."

In this workshop, participants were invited to share and cook their own "Typhoon Noodles" recipes through a collaborative artistic experience. Artist Kayoung Choi also demonstrated how to prepare traditional Korean Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew), creating a space where culinary exchange intertwines with the sharing of personal life stories.
