June Lee was born and raised in Seoul,South Korea. She moved to the U.S 18 years old.
Lee receive BFA in Painting and Drawingmajor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and also she hold MFA inFiber major at the Cranbrook Academy of art. She makes her objects by windinginnumerable amount of yarn over the head and body of a plaster casedsculptures. Her recent works title as “Bystander” “Witness” or “Blame you” suggest, she expresses an aspect of modern society in which peoplesit by and watch. She finds inspiration mainly from the news and herconversations with others and is keen on observing the position of a thirdparty in her works.
Even she makes more than three hundredsunique of standing figures, she never wound yarns in the same patterns and samecolors twice. She gives the same individuality of each works of her.
