Jarek Lustych – visual artist, also audio and multimedia artist, PhD student at the Doctoral School of Humanities and Art of UMCS (Lublin, Poland). In his work, he refers to social and political problems in the aspect of post-humanist theories. Since 2000, trying to transcend the anthropocentric vision of the world, he has been creating projects that take into account the natural components of the environment, which become, in a way, co-authors of works or their active participants. He uses various media, including recycled materials, but tries not to produce new objects; draws attention to unnoticed aspects of the environment. His projects have been implemented in collaboration with such institutions as the Pilar Juncosa & Joan Miró Foundation (2005, Palma de Mallorca), Künstlerhaus Villa Waldberta (2017, Munich), Luxlakes A4 Art Museum (2019, Chengdu, China)and the Foksal gallery ( 2021, Warsaw).
Facing the capitalist explosion of material production that disrupts today's reality, enriching it with new works/products becomes awkward. Instead, I'm exploring already existing objects, shifting their meaning. This opens the way to adopting a concept in which human beings are no longer autonomous components of a humanistic ontology, but are constituted only in coexistence with many non-human act ants.
