During their residency at PAIR, the artist duo Anne Fehres and Luke Conroy will present the 11th iteration of their ongoing documentary project 'News From Home'. This project explores the overlooked or omitted stories of a community through in-depth research, community collaboration and observations. This edition will be based upon the specific context of Kaohsiung, exploring this location through a series of photo montage works. These works aim to unveil the multi-layered essence of the local community, interweaving the artists' interpretations with those of the viewers.

Central to their creative process is the use of collage/montage, a method that lies at the heart of the duo’s artistic practice. By gathering and reassembling a variety of images, research, and observations from within the community, they craft collages that not only reinterpret these fragments but also place them in new, often hybrid contexts. This approach enables the duo and the communities they engage with to visualize societal contradictions, challenge static identities, and offer fresh perspectives on cultural identity and historical narratives.

In Kaohsiung, their photo montage works will incorporate hundreds of diverse layers. This collection will span from macro to micro imagery, capturing the city's rich tapestry. The duo plans to conduct imaginative workshops with locals, integrating their contributions into the final works alongside observational captures, historical images, everyday life scenes, local art influences, and impromptu community portraits. This melding of elements seeks to depict Kaohsiung in its diversity: its history, current reality, and future possibilities. The resulting artwork will invite viewers to engage with the city's narrative through both personal and collective lenses, offering a multifaceted portrayal that resonates with a wide audience.
