Hsieh, Jhou-Yu is a Taiwan based trans-disciplinary artist. In recent years, she has travel-lived and worked in New York, Spain, India, Singapore, South Korea and other places. Jhouyu mostly takes conceptual art as main body, contemporary daily life and historical archives are great inspiration for her, which she transforms into imaginary artwork. She spans across mixed-media, site-specific performance and installations. Jhouyu’s artworks translate cultural, spiritual, and physical suffering through her body, creating fascinating visual images and a strong sense of body.
She has had solo and group shows include Infinity Archives, Jhou-Yu Solo Exhibition in Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan. Future of the past in TIFA, India. 2019 International Experimental Film and Video Festival in Bilbao, Spain. 2019 The New Digital Art Biennale in Svalbard, Norway. 2020 Solitude Theater in South Korea. 2021 EchigoTsumari Art Triennale in Japan. 2022 participate in the Nanying Award in Tainan, Kaohsiung Awards in Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Miaoli Biennial Fine Arts Exhibition, and 2023 cross-disciplinary cooperation with German ecologists on the project research about masou.
