As a visual artist with a background in architecture, my work references 20th century architectural elements from the modernist movement. Through the mediums of photographic installation and performative video, I question the use of spaces described as functionalist. Using the body as a measuring instrument, I observe and analyze its interaction with the surrounding built space.
Through numerous residencies all over the world (East Europe, Middle East, Asia and South America), I explore the diversity of post-war global architecture inspired by the Bauhaus movement. During each residency, my working method is to examine available architectural forms through their visual and acoustic properties. Playing with scales, perspectives, and framings allows me to disrupt the conventional Cartesian coordinates of the x, y and z axes. Through regular collaborations with local sound artists, I bring another dimension to her work.
