In LoveFear (愛畏), artist Cha Ji Ryang envisions a future time-space where night and day, inside and outside, are no longer distinguishable. The work contemplates the generation that lives through Asia’s growth-oriented modernity and its uncertain future. It originates from the artist’s sensory experience in Kaohsiung, a port city that constantly absorbs and releases, repeating cycles of growth and disappearance within a modern rhythm. He captures the subtle tremor of time and space, what he calls Love/Fear, emerging from beings that exist between indiscriminate consumption and fragile balance.

During his stay, he interacted with various Asian communities and generations, wrote a short story, conducted visual experiments, and composed a sound piece lasting 6 minutes and 37 seconds exploring auditory textures. In an era where things are rapidly created and consumed, and sentences are swallowed and excreted without ever being digested, he evokes fleeting scenes from a future yet to come. What directions will his light, sound, and language, those dwelling in the dark, invisible, or already consumed by the present, flow toward in the future?
