Jaan-Yuan Kuo (b. 1994, Taipei) is an Oslo-based artist whose work delves into the praxis and paradoxes of intimacy, friendship, queerness, and religion. Through installations, sculptures, and collaborative practices, Kuo captures the shifting narratives of identity, domestic memory, and folklore circulating between individuals, while exploring the dynamics of gender and intergenerational entanglements.
Kuo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Arts from Fu Jen Catholic University (2017) and a Master of Fine Arts from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2021). His recent exhibitions include the Association of Visual Artists Oslo/Billedkunstnerne i Oslo (Oslo; 2025); the Norwegian Sculptors Society/Norsk Billedhoggerforening (Oslo, 2025); 413 BETA (Seoul, 2024); Tenthaus (Oslo, 2024, 2022); Oslo Kunstforening (Oslo, 2022); AKI Gallery (Taipei, 2022); Kunstnernes Hus (Oslo, 2022); Podium (Oslo, 2021); and Northing Space (Bergen, 2021). Kuo has been nominated for the DNB Savings Bank Foundation Grant Exhibition (Norway, 2022) and selected for the Kunstnernes Hus FKDS Studio Program (Norway, 2021). He is also a recipient of the Si-An Aesthetic Award in Plastic Arts (Taiwan, 2021).
