Parisa Karimi is a media artist, animator, and educator whose interdisciplinary work blends analog and digital techniques to create immersive experiences. She connects documentary elements with speculative narratives to explore socio-ecological and philosophical questions, focusing on the intersection between bodies, landscapes, and interwoven temporal narratives. Her work centers on processes of unlearning, (re)learning, and healing to imagine alternative presents and futures.
As the founder and artistic director of RanGBarang Animation Studio, Parisa produces for television, cinema, and theater. She collaborates in various collectives, creating participatory spaces for sharing insights through teaching and lectures. Her works have been recognized and showcased at international film, art, and theater festivals.
Parisa studied philosophy at the University of Cologne and Media Art at the Academy of Media Arts (KHM) and is also trained in physical theater and somatic empowerment work.
Her research poses questions about the stories shaping our present: Which histories remain hidden or forgotten within public spaces and monuments? How do these narratives connect on a global scale amid today’s crises, and what can we learn from them?
