Meng-Chan Yu expresses her care for nature through art that integrates themes such as agriculture, water, and the ocean. In recent years, her creative media have gradually shifted from ceramics to soil, presented in the form of large-scale site-specific installations. Soil carries the unique natural information and characteristics of a location, which are often difficult to describe with words. As a result, She collects soil from different countries and combine it with rice paper and other media to create unique images. The water-absorbing and light-transmitting properties of rice paper authentically present the texture of soil, altering people's understanding of how soil is positioned and viewed. While pursuing visual harmony, her work also explores the state in which humans seek balance, understanding, and connections with things in the natural environment.
